Congratulations to Dr Luis Villegas-Aguilar with his PhD Degree! Luis’s thesis, ‘Quantum networking with ultrahigh-performance entangled photon sources’ earned him the Award of Excellence in a Research Thesis from Griffith University.
ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Performance and Integration has been selected to be funded by the Australian Research Council
The Centre for Quantum Computer Performance and Integration aims to solve the scientific challenges that hinder the development of useful quantum computers. The Centre will synergistically develop high-performance quantum hardware, operate it in a resource-efficient way, and integrate diverse physical platforms across solid-state, optical and atom-based devices.

The final Optics CQC2T Workshop held on 17-20 November 2025 brought our community together once again, blending fresh scientific progress with a heartfelt sense of legacy, nostalgia, and appreciation for the many years of collaboration that brought us to this moment.

We provide a comprehensive overview of heralded entanglement generation with photons—covering theory, experiments, and its wide-ranging applications in quantum computation, communication, and metrology—while also pointing toward new frontiers for the field. A huge thanks to our co-authors from Bristol—this really was a team effort from start to finish.
