James Bennett

James is interested in the interactions between light and matter. He completed his PhD in quantum optomechanics at The University of Queensland in 2017, under Prof. Warwick Bowen and Prof. Halina Rubinsztein-Dunlop. This led into a postdoctoral position developing optomechanical magnetometers. He moved to Griffith University in 2022, on a teaching-focussed position, before joining MACSYS at Queensland University of Technology in 2024. There, James investigated parameter estimation and inference problems for partial differential equation models. James returned to Griffith in 2026 and is working on quantum sensing as part of the Queensland Quantum Decarbonisation Alliance.
