Welcome to Quantum Optics and Information Laboratory. We are part of the Queensland Quantum and Advanced Technologies Institute (QUATRI) of Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.

Here we use photons to investigate the fundamental rules of quantum physics and how to use them to make revolutionary quantum technologies.

Our work directly addresses important research questions in quantum computing, remote processing, quantum information security and precision measurement. Our lab is part of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Computer Performance and Integration, , Queensland Quantum Decarbonisation Alliance, , and has been a core member of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology, , a research centre comprised of Australian and international groups that worked to develop world-leading quantum devices.

Congratulations to Dr Luis Villegas-Aguilar with his PhD Degree! Luis’s thesis, ‘Quantum networking with ultrahigh-performance entangled photon sources’ earned him the Award of Excellence in a Research Thesis from Griffith University.

ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Performance and Integration has been selected to be funded by the Australian Research Council
The Centre for Quantum Computer Performance and Integration aims to solve the scientific challenges that hinder the development of useful quantum computers. The Centre will synergistically develop high-performance quantum hardware, operate it in a resource-efficient way, and integrate diverse physical platforms across solid-state, optical and atom-based devices.

The final Optics CQC2T Workshop held on 17-20 November 2025 brought our community together once again, blending fresh scientific progress with a heartfelt sense of legacy, nostalgia, and appreciation for the many years of collaboration that brought us to this moment.
